The Spirit of Movement

At Blacksand Adventures, travel isn’t just about getting from A to B. It’s about how you move — the vehicles, the routes, the rhythm of the road. From bush planes to 4x4s, from ferries to bicycles, every journey is handpicked to fit the terrain and the traveler, ensuring comfort and maximum experience.

Open-Sided Safari Vehicles

Used mainly in private conservancies or lodges (like Nyerere and Tarangire). These vehicles are great for photography and full immersion — feel the wind, smell the earth. Blacksand uses them selectively for safety and comfort, as they are not allowed on all public TANAPA roads.

3. Air Access & Connectivity

We partner with trusted domestic airlines (Coastal Aviation, Auric Air, Regional Air) to connect all major safari circuits and coastal destinations seamlessly. All aircraft are Cessna Caravans or Twin Otters, offering panoramic windows and low flight altitude for safari views from above.

Route Duration Note
Arusha → Serengeti (Seronera) 1 hr Northern circuit core access
Serengeti → Zanzibar 2.5 hrs Bush to beach transfer
Ruaha → Selous (Nyerere) 1.5 hrs Southern circuit link
Dar → Mafia Island 45 min Marine park access

4. Overland Routes & Distances

Tanzania’s geography is vast. Understanding typical drive times ensures smooth planning and allows us to schedule game drives and camp transfers efficiently.

6. Accessibility & Infrastructure Overview

Road Network

Major highways are paved (Dar–Arusha–Moshi). Inside parks, routes consist of gravel and seasonal dirt tracks, fully manageable by our 4x4 fleet.

Fuel & Power

Fuel is available in all major towns; remote parks require pre-supplied reserves carried in the vehicle’s dual fuel tanks. Power is supplied via solar/inverter setups in camps and vehicles.

Communication & Safety

VHF radios and satellite phones are in all expedition vehicles for constant communication, guide coordination, and emergency contact.

Assisted Mobility

We can arrange specialized transport and cater to assisted mobility travelers. Selected lodges in Arusha, Manyara, and Serengeti offer necessary infrastructure.

Blacksand Transport Philosophy

“Our vehicles are extensions of the journey — the pop-up roofs frame lions against the sky, the bush planes trace the shape of the Rift, and the dhows carry you across turquoise silence.”

Every wheel, propeller, and paddle is chosen to make travel not just convenient — but cinematic.
