Two Worlds: West & East Usambara

The Usambara Mountains are famously split into two distinct areas, each offering a different type of tropical experience, separated by a low-lying saddle.

West Usambara (Lushoto)

The main tourism hub, cooler climate, known for vast pine forests, hiking trails, and the breathtaking Irente Viewpoint overlooking the Maasai Steppe.

East Usambara (Amani)

Lower altitude, much wetter, home to Amani Nature Reserve, which is globally renowned for its dense, misty rainforest, waterfalls, and unique plant life.
